The Jurassic coast is the most popular place in Britain to collect fossils. The best way to experience the Jurassic Coast is on a guided fossil hunting expedition. Book a guided fossil walk and you will learn about the geological history and fossils of the world famous coastline.

We have years of experience and can show you the best places to (hopefully) find some amazing pieces.

We can tailor a guided walk to your group’s specific needs and structure a fossil hunting expedition of interest to all ages.

Fossil Hunting

Private fossil hunting expeditions are for people who do not wish to go with large groups. We can devote more time to customise the fossil hunting to your interests. If you are staying at a hotel or accommodation near the beach we can meet you at your accommodation. We are also able to arrange to meet you at a cafe or restaurant to give a brief pre-talk about the fossils before going on the beach.

Large Groups

If you have a large group who require a fossil hunting tour then the more information you can provide, the greater we can structure the fossil hunting to meet your needs. In recent years we have taken Graduate groups, Rambling Groups, Secondary School students, Language Schools, Hen Parties, Corporate Days Out and Birthday Parties. We need to know the number in the group, dates and time.

Our Walk Locations

Charmouth

There are three large car parks at Charmouth. I meet outside The Charmouth Heritage. The Heritage Centre has an excellent museum with free entry and display about the Jurassic Coast. There are two cafes and a local fossil shop and toilet facilities. Lots of parking

Lyme Regis

For walks In Lyme Regis, the fossil walks start at the “old sea anchor” monument at the bottom of the town, next to the town clock.

I can also meet you at either the Pilot Boat or The Lyme Bay which are both near-by at the bottom of the town. You can have a coffee while I give an initial talk about the fossils .

Larger groups in excess of 10 please make contact me for details. Private walks for a group of upto 10 £140.

Private Group Walks for upto 10 (small children not included) £140
The walk lasts about two hours and includes a free fossil indentification chart.

Payment Methods

Due to the problems with internet connections cash is accepted although I can take card payment on the beach.

Fossil Hunter's Kit

The Fossil Hunter’s Kit Box contains all you will need for a day’s fossil hunting. It’s not essential for your walk as we will provide items for you to use. The box does contain everything you need if you wish to look for fossils on your own. £35 includes postage.
